Rediscovering the Jamaican Iguana

In 1983, Dragonwood Wildlife Conservancy played a pivotal role in rediscovering the Jamaican iguana, a species that was believed to be extinct. This monumental discovery reignited global interest and efforts to protect this critically endangered reptile. Today, through our dedicated breeding and habitat protection programs, the Jamaican iguana population is slowly but steadily recovering.
